Our story
Independent since forever
We're an independent country pub in the heart of Davenham. That independence matters — it means every pint, every plate, and every welcome is ours to get right. We don't cut corners, and we don't send anything out of the kitchen we wouldn't serve to our own family.
The building itself is Grade II listed — an 18th-century coach house with the kind of character you can't manufacture. Low beams, open fires in winter, a beer garden for summer, and a public bar that's felt like home to Davenham regulars for generations.
What we stand for
Family-run and locally loved. The decisions that matter get made here, not in a boardroom.
Whether you're a regular or it's your first visit, you'll get the same warm welcome and an honest pint.
Home-cooked, traditional food done properly. No microwaves, no shortcuts — just good cooking, every time.
A short history
The Bulls Head's origins trace to the mid-eighteenth century, when it served as a coaching inn on the road between Northwich and the south. Across the 1800s it passed through several licensees before the Trim family took it on in the latter half of the 1860s — a stewardship that shaped the pub's character for decades.
The Grade II listing protects the fabric of the building — but the feeling of the place comes from the people in it. That part is up to us, and to our guests.
